Harry Miles Connolly Sr.
April 02, 1931 - April 25, 2012
Harry Miles Connolly Sr., 81, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Harry was born in Savannah on April 2, 1931, son of Thomas Joseph Connolly and Alice Meitzler Connolly. Harry attended Savannah High School and was in the school band 1948, 1949 & 1950. He was a member of IBEW Local No. 508 and did electrical work, retiring in 1993 after 42 years of service. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for 50 years. He was a member of the Fenian Society for many years where he served as chairman from 1992-1993 and Grand Marshall in 2003. Harry was a member of the St. Patrick's Day Committee, past member of Knights of Columbus No. 5588, the golf blitz, the Senior Golf Blitz, McDonald's Coffee Club and the Cobra Club. Harry never met a stranger and was loved by all and will be missed my many. He loved his family and his faith above all. He was a devoted and loving husband, loving father and a very special and proud PaPa and Pop Pop to his seven grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his brother, James Connolly, sister, Alice Connolly Davenport and a granddaughter, Angel Connolly.
Surviving are his wife of 59 ½ years, Fay Brinson Connolly of Savannah; loving children, Harry Sherri Connolly Jr., Thomas Bonnie Connolly all of Savannah, Georgia; Michael Denise Connolly of Chapin, South Carolina; grandchildren, Christopher, Sean, Kyle and Brent Connolly; step-grandson, Michael Edenfield all of Savannah, Georgia; granddaughters, Samantha and Shannon Connolly of Chapin, South Carolina; sister, Mazie Connolly Sandison of Willowick, Ohio; brother-in-law, Gene Brinson of Statesboro, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their loving thanks to all the staff at St. Joseph's /Candler and Select Specialty Hospital and also to Dr. Charles Drake, Debbie and staff and Azelealand Nursing Home.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 30, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with The Reverend Jeremiah J. McCarthy, Celebrant.
The pallbearers will be Chris Connolly, Kyle Connolly,
Brent Connolly, Sean Connolly, Samantha Connolly, Shannon Connolly, Bubba Edenfield, Tom Talcott and Neal Iverson.
Burial: Bonaventure Cemetery.
